Why is Rheumatoid Arthritis so destructive effects on human resources?

RA is a chronic relapsing condition. Symptoms can flare up and, at other times, regress until it disappears altogether. Each flare leads to joint damage that over time, can cause disability.

Chronic inflammation damaged cartilage, which is eroded and worn. The joint capsule, bone, ligaments and surrounding tissues may result damaged. As a result of inflammation, the ligaments are stretched and theses are also when the swelling subsides, and in this way they are no longer able to maintain the joint in place. This leads to instability and deformity of joints.
