What is and causes morning impaired function?

The "morning impaired function" means the difficulty in carrying out their duties and activities of morning because of stiffness, pain and other symptoms induced by the RA. This often has an impact significantly negative impact on the lives of people who are affected. These symptoms cause loss of mobility and consequent impairment in the ability to work and prevent patients from carrying out activities every day. In turn, this may be due of frustration and anger.

What causes impairment morning?

The symptoms, such as stiffness and pain in the morning, are related to increase concentrations of pro-inflammatory chemicals in the blood, known as cytokines (pro-inflammatory chemicals). Interleukin (IL-6) - a of these cytokines - follows the body's circadian rhythm (natural clock body) and accumulates during the night between 2.00 and 7.00 am, causing inflammation, pain and stiffness in the joints upon awakening. Some studies show that levels of IL-6 are related to disease activity and are reduced in response to treatment.
