A very helpful tutorial book tool and wonderful resource. It's great guide for yoga teachers and students or yogis beginners. Great tutorial not limited to arthritis sufferers, spot on for arthritis and strength building, arthritis and yoga fit well: arthritis restricts movement, yoga increases range of motion.



I'm 63 and have very advanced knee arthritis. I know how powerful yoga can be as a therapy and have been struggling with Bikram yoga for a while. I can only do about half a dozen of the poses; it helps a lot but takes a heckuva lot of energy. I have wondered about its efficiency for someone with my handicap. I read "Structural Yoga" and was about to try its recommendations, untill I read "Yoga for Arthritis". Unlike the former, which is infested with woo, this book sticks to science. And verifiable results. Impressively, the authors have developed an effective treatment for scoliosis. It turns out that poses promoting spinal flexibility are contra-indicated for that condition.
I've got a ton of work ahead, but this book is so clear and so rich in detail on the poses that I can finally be confident about exactly what I'm doing.
Incidentally, Appendix III, "Alignment Principles from Anusara Yoga" explains a lot that is left unsaid in other yoga books.
